Multifamily real estate refers to properties that have more than one distinct unit and houses multiple tenants or groups of tenants. Multi-family real estate properties are usually apartment complexes with each building consisting of numerous rentable living spaces. Apartments, condo complexes, or even co living spaces are examples of multi-family real estate which is now considered one of the four major commercial real estate asset classes.
